Ames Sheldon, NSCDA-MN member, wins awards for new book

The Minnesota Society of NSCDA is proud of member Ames Sheldon, whose historical fiction has won several awards. In 2020, her new book Don't Put the Boats Away was named winner in Family Saga and finalist in Women's Fiction by the 2020 American Fiction Awards. It has also been named finalist in Historical Fiction by the 2020 International Book Awards, finalist in Women's Fiction by the 2020 National Indie Excellence Awards and finalist in Fiction by the 2020 Next Generation Indie Book Awards.

Ames has been an active member of the Minnesota Dames since 2014, and serves on the Board of Governors of the Alexander Ramsey House in St. Paul on behalf of NSCDA-MN. She is descended from Thomas Daggett of Massachusetts.

Her previous book, Eleanor’s Wars, won the Independent Book Publishers Association’s 2016 Benjamin Franklin Gold Award for Best New Voice in Fiction.

The two novels tell the story of the Sutton Family, from Eleanor, who drove an ambulance in World War I, through the family’s struggles with loss in the aftermath of World War II. More information is available on Amessheldon.com.
